When I new that for the upcoming 2024 season I had to look for new partners, I kind of felt lost and overwhelmed by the situation but at the same time I had that deep feeling in my core that good things where about to arrive, and that this was just a natural step that one has to take in the path of life.
It is true that there are a lot of brands in windsurfing, but at this point I had a clear feeling that I had to follow something that truly made me excited, that I was aligned with their values, philosophy, and that they are doing something that is different to the rest.
My first thoughts of starting a partnership with North came mainly followed by this points. I have admired North as one of the most iconic brands in Windsurfing, for as long as I can remember to have windsurfing knowledge. This mainly came from seeing my mother and my uncle’s pictures from the 80’s with their North Sails, and hearing the stories of how these where the sails that every windsurfer wanted to have in Tarifa. My respect and admiration for North was also due to the relation that this brand has to boat sailing which is in fact the pure esence of riding the wind.
This all adds up to the fact that few years ago, they come up with one of the most revolutionary sail concept that windsurfing has seen in years and that only North is capable of producing. Using a 3Di technique, sails are significantly stronger and lighter than Laminate string sails. And when I first saw and felt the weight of a North Sail I was completly blown away. North Windsurfing is the only sailmaker who utilises ultralight unidirectional filament tapes to build sails from materials in their most basic elemental form.
So being Ozu Tarifa one of the main North Windsurfing distributors I couldn’t miss the opportunity to try to make a partnership with them.
